If you know Petal, you know that we are made up of a team of beautiful people. Hearts of gold these people were born with. They're the hardest workers you'll ever meet. On wedding days, we don't glisten, we sweat it out like we just took an hour long cycling class and we don't even care if you catch us shoving down a cappuccino ice cream afterward. We earn those calories. We fight off bees while we stand on our tippy toes on sketchy ladders with smiles on our faces. We race the clock, help photographers, and we should have stock in lint rollers.
And the dear saint who has done all of the above the longest with me would be Hannah. I remember her first day at Petal. It was hot. July hot. And she climbed up one of those rickety ladders to hang a couple of 40 foot garlands like she had been doing it since birth. Family members were coming in and guests were hot on their heels and she was calm and consistent-I was a basket case. She's always optimistic about my ludicrous ideas and makes it her personal responsibility to keep me hydrated and to make sure that I don't lose my keys.
And... she knows how to sweep. There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who know how to sweep and those who don't. Some just push dirt around haphazardly and I end up sneaking back in and sweeping up after them. But Hannah can sweep, bless her! I'm lost without her.
I'm pretty sure I annoyed her quite a few times the week of her wedding while I was working on her flowers because I couldn't help but be so darn sentimental. I'd text her daily because I couldn't work on her wedding flowers and not think of us in that very space, petaling wedding after wedding and this time it was her turn. I was a puddle all week.
It was an honor to create her wedding flowers and to be there to celebrate her and John's love and commitment to each other. I'm so proud of you, Hannah and thankful for being able to call you a friend and petal pusher.
